Team Jerseys - respond by Friday noon to get one!

Getting ready to place an order with Primal Wear. They'll make us custom cycling jerseys for $60 each, (including art design, printing, shipping!) AND, they'll donate 15% of our order cost back to Tour de Cure, in the name of the Mighty Broncos! Sounds like a great deal, since most jerseys cost more than that anyway...

We need to order 15 jerseys minimum. (Sizes xs-xxxl)

If you want one, please reply ASAP so I can get a count. We need to order this week, so we get them in time for June 12. Maybe Betsy and Steve could use them during the Redondo Beach Triathlon too!!

If you have suggestions for design, please give me links or descriptions. We need to show them a basic idea of what we want the style to look like, and they'll do the artwork for us. Any LOGOs we can use? Color preferences? (I was thinking White as the major space taker, and Santa Clara Red as the second-most prominent color, with black as the outline/minor color).

Please share with anyone who might want a Mighty Broncos cycling jersey. Let's set the last response date/time as Friday noon.

Have a great day!

Lindsey

Sunday Ride & Shopping Party

Inviting everyone to a group ride on Sunday!
Loop from SCU campus: San Tomas Aquinas Creek Trail to Sunnyvale Baylands Park (15 mi rountrip). Or, if folks want to ride further, there are a few options: add a loop in the STAC Trail to make it 20 miles, or continue on to Stevens Creek Trail and add on as many miles as you like!

I'm going to need all the training and practice I can get for the next 10 weeks. I'm going to do the Tour de Cure on a unicycle!

Meeting at SCU Mission at 8:30 am. Be sure to bring all your gear, water, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Should be a nice day!

Please let me know if you plan on joining!
Lindsey

PS. I've got a Sports Basement Shopping Party coming my way... just asked for available dates that work in April after the 20th.... anyone have any suggestions for dates to have it (or not?)

Sunset Ride + Team Jerseys

Just got back from a great afternoon ride!
Left SCU about 4:45 pm for the San Tomas Aquinas Creek trail. There's a bike lane on Monroe pretty much all the way to the creek trail. Then it's smooth sailing to the Sunnyvale Baylands park. We had strong headwinds on the way out, but the tailwind on the way back more than made up for it! Beautiful sunset vistas, birds flying, and ducks, ducks, ducks!

Looks like we have 5 folks signed up for the Tour de Cure! Off to a great start!
I'm going to start the process to create Mighty Broncos Jerseys for the ride and also for anyone who wants one. If you're interested in a team jersey, please let me know soon, so I can get an accurate count.

Hope all is well! How is everyone staying in shape and gearing up for spring?

Ride in Palo Alto, June 2011

Here's a friendly nudge to please register for the Tour de Cure in June if you plan to ride. Once I gauge interest level, I'll organize group training rides and the coveted Mighty Broncos cycling jersey/kit.

Click on "Join My Team" (http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/SanJoseArea?px=5927185&pg=personal&fr_id=7615)

The ride is on June 12, 2011. It starts and ends at HP's headquarters in Palo Alto.

EVENT ROUTE & HIGHLIGHTS

The Silicon Valley Tour de Cure has 4 great bike routes to choose from that let riders enjoy the unique beauty of Silicon Valley. The ride begins at Hewlett Packard located at 3000 Hanover Street in Palo Alto. Riders of all skill level are welcome and our routes are fully supported with well-stocked rest stops and SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles. Register and choose the event that works best for you.

25k Our family-friendly ride through beautiful Palo Alto is accessible to all ages and fitness levels.

50k: Offers a moderate challenge while being safe and scenic. Frequent rest stops and plenty of SAG patrols make this ride a great choice for the beginner to intermediate cyclist. (I did this last year, and it was great. There is one hill: Alpine Rd, which is not bad if you've practiced on it a few times... also, it's about 1-2 miles... totally doable!)

75k: The perfect choice for the intermediate to advanced cyclist. Full route support ensures a safe ride from start to finish. (I'm going to do this one!)

120k: The 120k is a true test of endurance - best suited for the experienced cyclist. (Matt did this one last year, and will do it again this year.)

We are asked to raise at least $200. It goes to the American Diabetes Association. And no competition or anything, but Stanford has already beat us... they've raised $95.

More information about the Tour de Cure.

If it's ok with all of you, I'm going to invite current students as well as alumni, family, and friends to join the Mighty Broncos Team for this event.

Hope all is well!!!

This weeks Challenge

Find someone in a full SCU Bronco kit (jersey & shorts).

I’ve been cycling in the area for almost 20 years and have never seen anyone wearing SCU gear.

While you are out cycling this week look for this rare kit and do one of the following.

1. Take a photo of the rider (can not be on campus)
2. Bonus point if the photo includes you

The winner will get a great prize!

Alviso Slough Trail. 17 mi Bike Ride this Saturday (Mountain / Hybrid)

Hi everybody.

I would like to invite all Mighty Broncos bicycle riders to a 17 mile ride this Saturday July 10, at 7am that will take us from the Creek trails along Rivermark out to the Alviso Slough Trail that loops way out into the baylands and then back. So far out that I had two turkey vultures circling over me one time when I was out there.

It is mostly FLAT with hard packed dirt - good for a mountain bike or a hybrid.

Please keep in mind that there may or may not be tools available should you have a breakdown. We will all try to be helpful, but everyone should bring their own water, gear, and whatever else they think they need, and if not, then a cell phone with the number of someone useful on the other end.

Its a great ride. All are welcome!

Meet at Rivermark Plaza by the Pete's / McDonalds area 7am.

ride this saturday

Hi everybody.

I would like to invite all Mighty Broncos bicycle riders to a 22 mile ride this Saturday June 16, at 7am down along the san tomas creek trail and around down to the coyote creek trail to Dixon Landing Road.

gmaps Url (where you can drill down to see detail) :

It is all paved trail (no dirt) - just fine for a road bike - with a couple or three miles in the middle on roads going along the lovely treatment facilities and sheep fields of Alviso along Zanker Road. The ride is 11 miles out and 11 miles back.

Please keep in mind that there may or may not be tools available should you have a breakdown. We will all try to be helpful, but everyone should bring their own water, gear, and whatever else they think they need, and if not, then a cell phone with the number of someone useful on the other end.

Its a great ride. All are welcome!

Meet at the trail parking lot on the SW corner of San Tomas and Monroe Saturday 7am.

Saturday Bike Ride 6 19 10

On Saturday, Debbie and I are going for a nice 18 mile bike ride. It is flat and friendly with some traffic and lights but nice bike lanes. Here is the route. We will start at 7:30 AM in the Santana Row parking lot behind the Yankee Pier and CA Bistro.
We will ride out and turn left on Winchester and right on Moorpark. We will ride on Moorpark to Saratoga Ave and turn left.
Then we will ride to Rt 9, Saratogo/Los Gatos Rd and turn left. We will stay on that to Los Gatos Blvd and turn left which becomes Bascom. We will end he ride by turning left on Moorpark, right on Winchester, right into Santana Row. One big happy loop. Peets or Starbucks in Santana Row await us.

Please let me know if you are going to join us. Just a nice time to stretch the legs and enjoy. Maybe throw some sprints in for the speedsters.

Saturdays Bike Ride

Great job to everyone that came out for the ride this past Sat. No flats and no technical difficulties made it a fabulous morning ride!
