moving over to google group/site
New google group for emailing instead of this blog and trying to maintain an ever-changing e-mail list. No longer need to e-mail individuals!
Just send one email to scumightybroncos@googlegroups.com and we'll all receive it! You should have received an invitation to join this group on Friday afternoon. If not, let me know.
You can adjust your settings to receive each email as they are delivered, or to receive one digest email per day.
We also have a new website to organize information: https://sites.google.com/site/mightybroncos/
Let me know if you want permission to add to/edit the site or our google calendar.
So... if all works (keep your fingers crossed)... we won't be using this blog in the future.
Please bookmark https://sites.google.com/site/mightybroncos/
Thanks, and happy training!

Team Jerseys - respond by Friday noon to get one!
Getting ready to place an order with Primal Wear. They'll make us custom cycling jerseys for $60 each, (including art design, printing, shipping!) AND, they'll donate 15% of our order cost back to Tour de Cure, in the name of the Mighty Broncos! Sounds like a great deal, since most jerseys cost more than that anyway...
We need to order 15 jerseys minimum. (Sizes xs-xxxl)
If you want one, please reply ASAP so I can get a count. We need to order this week, so we get them in time for June 12. Maybe Betsy and Steve could use them during the Redondo Beach Triathlon too!!
If you have suggestions for design, please give me links or descriptions. We need to show them a basic idea of what we want the style to look like, and they'll do the artwork for us. Any LOGOs we can use? Color preferences? (I was thinking White as the major space taker, and Santa Clara Red as the second-most prominent color, with black as the outline/minor color).
Please share with anyone who might want a Mighty Broncos cycling jersey. Let's set the last response date/time as Friday noon.
Have a great day!
Lindsey

Sunday Ride & Shopping Party
Loop from SCU campus: San Tomas Aquinas Creek Trail to Sunnyvale Baylands Park (15 mi rountrip). Or, if folks want to ride further, there are a few options: add a loop in the STAC Trail to make it 20 miles, or continue on to Stevens Creek Trail and add on as many miles as you like!
I'm going to need all the training and practice I can get for the next 10 weeks. I'm going to do the Tour de Cure on a unicycle!
Meeting at SCU Mission at 8:30 am. Be sure to bring all your gear, water, snacks, sunscreen, etc. Should be a nice day!
Please let me know if you plan on joining!
Lindsey
PS. I've got a Sports Basement Shopping Party coming my way... just asked for available dates that work in April after the 20th.... anyone have any suggestions for dates to have it (or not?)

Mission City Run
On May 1 is the 3rd annual 5K/10K Mission City Run held at Great America. Keypoint Credit Union is the lead sponsor of the event which helps raise thousands of dollars for worthy charities throughout the Silicon Valley. I'm a member of the Board of Directors of the Mission City Community Fund which this run supports from all the net proceeds. Not only do you get to try out those new running shoes, but all participants will get into Great America for the whole day. This is a great family event since it will also have a 1 mile walk/run through the theme park. What a deal: T-shirt, finishers medal and admission to the park all for only $40 or a family of 4 for $100. Here's the link:

Sign up now and let's have a great showing for the Mighty Broncos! Tell all your friends about it too.

Sunset Ride + Team Jerseys
Left SCU about 4:45 pm for the San Tomas Aquinas Creek trail. There's a bike lane on Monroe pretty much all the way to the creek trail. Then it's smooth sailing to the Sunnyvale Baylands park. We had strong headwinds on the way out, but the tailwind on the way back more than made up for it! Beautiful sunset vistas, birds flying, and ducks, ducks, ducks!
Looks like we have 5 folks signed up for the Tour de Cure! Off to a great start!
I'm going to start the process to create Mighty Broncos Jerseys for the ride and also for anyone who wants one. If you're interested in a team jersey, please let me know soon, so I can get an accurate count.
Hope all is well! How is everyone staying in shape and gearing up for spring?

Ride in Palo Alto, June 2011
Click on "Join My Team" (http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR/TourdeCure/SanJoseArea?px=5927185&pg=personal&fr_id=7615)
The ride is on June 12, 2011. It starts and ends at HP's headquarters in Palo Alto.
EVENT ROUTE & HIGHLIGHTS
The Silicon Valley Tour de Cure has 4 great bike routes to choose from that let riders enjoy the unique beauty of Silicon Valley. The ride begins at Hewlett Packard located at 3000 Hanover Street in Palo Alto. Riders of all skill level are welcome and our routes are fully supported with well-stocked rest stops and SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles. Register and choose the event that works best for you.
25k Our family-friendly ride through beautiful Palo Alto is accessible to all ages and fitness levels.
50k: Offers a moderate challenge while being safe and scenic. Frequent rest stops and plenty of SAG patrols make this ride a great choice for the beginner to intermediate cyclist. (I did this last year, and it was great. There is one hill: Alpine Rd, which is not bad if you've practiced on it a few times... also, it's about 1-2 miles... totally doable!)
75k: The perfect choice for the intermediate to advanced cyclist. Full route support ensures a safe ride from start to finish. (I'm going to do this one!)
120k: The 120k is a true test of endurance - best suited for the experienced cyclist. (Matt did this one last year, and will do it again this year.)
We are asked to raise at least $200. It goes to the American Diabetes Association. And no competition or anything, but Stanford has already beat us... they've raised $95.
More information about the Tour de Cure.
If it's ok with all of you, I'm going to invite current students as well as alumni, family, and friends to join the Mighty Broncos Team for this event.
Hope all is well!!!

Photos...
Ok all you paparazzi... let's see 'em. I've only seen the classic "Nick in Pink Swim Cap." I know that will be hard to beat... but let's see what other pics you took! All I can contribute is this photo of Lovers Point the eve before the Triathlon.
How did your professional pictures come out from the course? Forget training for the swim, bike, and run... I need to train to take good pictures on the course! I look like I'm about to keel over in most of them. Ha!

Aquatic Park
The morning was rounded out with brunch at The Buena Vista and yes, Blue Bottle Coffee. To Dee’s disappointment, there were no ducks.
Shopping Party at the Sports Basement!
We have a shopping party at the Sports Basement in Sunnyvale scheduled for Sept. 8th, 6 PM to 8 PM. We will receive 20% off all purchases so, if you need any last minute items for the race or???, it will be a great time to buy. Please feel free to invite family and friends but let me know how many will be attending as I will need a headcount.

Fund raising - GO!
News reports lead us to believe that people are not donating to charity this year. Not true! Betsy, Lindsey and Dee have proved the reports wrong by actively asking their friends, colleagues and family for their support, and offering them the opportunity to make a difference. They have proved with absolute certainty that people are willing to give and make a difference if asked and given the opportunity.
This is a team of wonderful, caring people. We are nearing the starting blocks, or should I say sandy beach, of the Pacific Grove Triathlon. It's a mere 16 days away. You are stronger mentally and physically, and better prepared, than you were when we began training in June. Your confidence and strength show. Let's enter our final stretch with strong fund raising efforts, with the strength of the Mighty Broncos that we have become. All we ask is that you send one letter from your heart to your friends, family and colleagues; just one letter asking them to support you, the team, and LLS. I know that we are all overwhelmed and that fund raising takes too much time and is "too hard," but we can do this.
I am not asking you to do more than I will do. This week I will send my final letters to my contacts who have not yet contributed, and ask for their help. I don't know how many will give, but I know with absolute certainty that if I don't ask, no one will give. Of the 42 people I email, maybe three will answer the call and move us closer to reaching our common goal to support LLS as it works to eliminate blood cancers.
Please be strong in the stretch. This event isn't about us as individuals, and it is much more than swimming, biking and running. It is about giving and working together. It is about self-actualization, leadership, volunteering and making a difference in the world.
I am here for you if you need my help. Go Team!
